The Allan Water Angling Improvement Association offers around 15 miles of brown trout, sea trout, and salmon fishing much of which is double bank fishing. Both daily and full annual membership permits are readily available. Full annual members may fish all the waters controlled by the Association
For angling purposes the river can best be considered in three parts. The more sedate waters between Greenloaning and Ashfield, the much more broken water from that point downstream to Dunblane, and the section through Bridge of Allan to the tidal waters.
There is a wide variety of fishing available from the long slow pools of the upper river for the dry fly fisherman to the faster streams of the lower river for the wet fly exponent. The character of the river makes it ideal for fly fishing. Its fast-flowing, crystal clear waters are home to a succession of salmon pools that provide the angler with some of the finest fly water in Europe

The Blairgowrie Rattray and District Angling Association, in agreement with West Grange Fishings, controls part of the fishing on the River Ericht covering some 5.5 miles of the river, on both the Blairgowrie and Rattray banks.
Brown trout and grayling thrive in the Ericht’s pure waters. Some stocking by the BRDAA takes place, adding to the stock of wild brownies. The average weight is three-quarters to one pound. The occasional larger fish to three pounds can be taken. Fly rods from 7’6” – 9’6” are best with line weights 5 – 7, depending on conditions. A floater with a sink tip or intermediate will cover most conditions.

Residents and visitors to Perth can take the opportunity to fish on one of Scotland's best salmon and trout rivers. The Council manages the allocation of fishing permits along the town waters of the River Tay.

Salmon
The season runs from 15th January to 15th October inclusive (excluding Sundays - there is no Sunday salmon fishing in Scotland).
Our Salmon permits offer exceptional value for money. The Tay is a big water and a good cast is often required! In the right water conditions, the fishing can be exceptional as the salmon will hold here before running the river.
Brown Trout
The season runs from 15th March to 6th October inclusive.

Daily permits
A Daily Permit is available to all anglers, regardless of their home address, including visitors to the area. For Spring fishing (January - June) this costs £10.00 and for Summer fishing (July - October) this is £15.00. No discounts on the day permits are available.
Seasonal Permits
Seasonal permits are only available to residents of Perth and Kinross.
