Drum Fishery
Drum Loch is 6 miles northwest of Dumfries off Kirkton road. The easiest access is from the side road at the north end of Dalswinton village and following the blue markers. The fishery is signposted.

Dumfries and Galloway Angling Association recently took over the Drum fishery near Dalswinton. This is a 7-acre loch stocked with Rainbow Trout. Fish are stocked around the 2.5 - 3lb size but the loch also holds many grown-on fish from previous years including Tiger and Brown trout. Rainbows up to 10lb have been caught.

The loch has undergone many improvements including the addition of a flushing W.C. a new sheltered seated area and a picnic bench. The committee carries out a lot of maintenance on the Loch each year removing weeds from the loch, repairing walkways, and strimming. The committee gives up vast amounts of their time to keep it looking as it is.

Tickets can be purchased at McMillan's tackle shop, both in Friars Vennel, Dumfries. The Friars Carse Hotel also sells tickets for the Drum

Welcome to Greenhill Fishery, near Dalbeattie South West Scotland. They are a day ticket fishery offering coarse, fly, and bait fishing for trout.

Set in a picturesque valley bordering farmland and forest, the 4 ponds offer private and secluded spots for both beginners and experienced anglers.

Quarry Pool at 1-acre offers catch-and-release flying fishing for brown and rainbow trout. The main stock of browns is around 1lb, rainbows are around 2lb but we have kept it interesting with a few 4-5lb fish. The pond depth ranges from 3-5ft, best tactics are a floating line with either a dry fly or due to the dark peaty water a bright wet fly.

The fishery is open all year from 7 am until 30 minutes prior to dusk.  Tackle hire and bait available.

We are long-standing clear water, spring-fed lochan. We treasure our fish, which we stock from local sources and the weights range from 3 lb upwards. we stock a percentage of Blue and Rainbow but we also have Browns, Brookes, and Tigers. We pride ourselves on a beautiful, quality surrounding where quality not quantity of fish can be caught. Our fishery manager is usually on hand to help with any angler's questions or queries.

Our waters are clear, and run all year round, but with this advantage of clear water, our maintenance for keeping it clear of weeds is continual. So every Monday and Tuesday are designated cutting days. We only cut sections making it fishable during maintenance, but this can also encourage a feeding pattern in our fish which helps any angler fishing those days.

We do have a professional angler, Sue McNiven who can come and help with expert tuition on the water, and also our fishery manager Andrew can help with any problems.

Whether you are a beginner or an expert the two well-stocked lochans at the Green Frog in Moffat offer an easily accessible location to enjoy fishing.

We offer both fly fishing and bait fishing with barbless hooks and regardless if you are on your own or with a group of family and friends, there’s always acres of space and a warm welcome at the Green Frog.
